Job summary

Kelso Building Services seeks an experienced HVAC Technician to join our service team in the Atlanta area. You will diagnose, repair, maintain, and optimize large commercial and industrial HVAC systems, bringing strong technical instincts and a safety-first mindset.

The role involves handling complex diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and system optimization across significant facilities. You will mentor apprentices and work with a dedicated team to deliver reliable, high-quality service.

Qualifications

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
  • Minimum 3+ years of commercial HVAC experience, with exposure to chiller systems.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting across low and high voltage.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair all types of commercial HVAC systems including VAV, VRF, RTUs, chillers, etc.
  • Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Keep accurate, timely documentation of all service work, repairs, and recommendations.
  • Communicate clearly with customers about system conditions, findings, and next steps.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, EPA standards, and internal company policies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians when applicable.

Key Responsibilities


  • Diagnose and repair all types of commercial HVAC systems including VAV, VRF, RTUs, chillers, etc.

  • Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.

  • Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting capability across both low and high voltage systems.

  • Comfortable working independently with limited oversight.

  • Valid driver's license in good standing.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.



Preferred Qualifications


  • Factory certifications or formal training on major chiller manufacturers.

  • Hands-on controls programming or commissioning background.

  • Prior experience in hospitals, industrial plants, or large-scale commercial buildings.
