Job summary

University of Richmond is seeking a skilled HVAC and refrigeration technician to provide service and maintenance for all aspects of mechanical operations supporting the University's educational mission. The role focuses on large commercial and specialty systems, with emphasis on reliability and safety.

Candidates must hold a Journeyman Mechanical License upon hire, have 4-7 years of experience with commercial HVAC, and be able to read schematics, follow IMC, and handle refrigerants safely.

Qualifications

• HVAC and refrigeration service and maintenance for large systems.
• Read and troubleshoot schematics and control diagrams.
• Follow IMC, safety, and refrigerant handling procedures.
• Welding/soldering skills; and safe use of tools and equipment.
• Professionalism and excellent communication are expected.
• Virginia driver’s license required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance for HVAC equipment to support educational mission.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Diagnose issues using schematics and control diagrams.
• Coordinate with facilities for emergencies and planned work.
