Job summary

Hoxton Circle is seeking a Director, Commercial Finance to join its New York team for a 3-day-per-week onsite schedule. The role blends high-level client negotiations on contract terms, pricing, and SOWs with the fundamentals of profitability, revenue recognition, budgeting, and month-end close.

You will own the P&L for your portfolio, lead forecasts and actuals, manage staffing and vendor negotiations, and supervise two direct reports while collaborating with auditors and procurement.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of accounting or accounting/finance experience in a global media/marketing agency environment.
• Associate Director or Director level.
• Strong client-facing negotiation skills and solid accounting fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Lead client-facing conversations on contracts, pricing, and terms.
• Manage the portfolio P&L, including forecasting, actuals, and cost approvals.
• Own external client reporting and ensure contractual compliance across accounts.
• Lead staffing pricing, vendor negotiations, and staffing plans.
• Monitor project budgets and flag staffing gaps proactively.
• Manage international contractual obligations with auditors and procurement teams.
• Manage and develop two direct reports.

Director, Commercial Finance- 3 Days a Week Onsite, NYC

We're partnering with a global media and marketing agencynetwork on the search for a Director, Commercial Finance to join its commercial finance team in New York.

The role blends client-facing commercial work (new business, contract terms, pricing, vendor negotiations) with the fundamentals of the seat (profitability, revenue recognition, month end, budgeting), so it suits someone who can operate at a high level and still get into the detail! The team is growing and promotion opportunity here is real-making it a great place to work for a current Director or Associate Director looking for their next home.

What you'll be doing:

• Lead client-facing commercial conversations, including contract and MSA terms, pricing, and ad hoc commercial needs
• Manage the P&L for your portfolio: monthly forecasting, actuals reconciliation, and cost approval across staffing, intercompany transfers, and accruals
• Own external client reporting and ensure ongoing contractual compliance across each account
• Manage staff plan utilization and pricing, and lead vendor-side negotiations
• Track signed projects against budget and proactively flag staffing gaps
• Ensure financial obligations are met across international client contracts, working with internal and external auditors and client procurement teams as needed
• Manage and develop two direct reports

What we're looking for:

• 8-10 years of accounting or accounting/finance experience, gained within a global media or marketing agency environment (not brand-side, and not a production or creative background)
• Currently an Associate Director or Director
• Not a fit for a Manager looking for their next promotion
• Commercially minded, with genuine comfort in client-facing negotiations as well as the accounting fundamentals
• Comfortable managing a small team while still being hands-on
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or equivalent professional experience

Compensation & logistics:

• Base salary: up to $180,000, plus bonus
• Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in office NYC
• Reports to the Group Director
• Team: 2 direct reports
