Job summary

Jasurda Group is seeking a Commercial Estimator to join their Curtis Bay, MD team. The candidate will prepare cost estimates for ground-up, renovations, and rollout projects, performing quantity takeoffs and managing multiple bids in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in commercial construction estimating, proficiency with estimating software, and strong reading of drawings. A related bachelor’s degree is preferred and equal experience may be considered.

Qualifications

• 3 years of construction estimating experience, preferably in commercial construction.
• Retail and/or distribution center construction experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost drivers.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under deadline pressure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent experience will be considered).

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate cost estimates for ground-up construction, renovations, and rollout projects.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor pricing.
• Analyze bid documents, drawings, and specifications to identify scope, risks, and value engineering opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure competitive, reliable pricing.
• Collaborate with project management and operations teams to ensure smooth handoff from preconstruction to execution.
• Track historical cost data and market trends to improve estimate accuracy over time.
• Prepare and present bid proposals to clients and internal leadership.
• Assist in evaluating change orders and scope changes during construction as needed.
