Job summary

Higgins Group, Inc. in Wichita, KS seeks a Commercial Estimator to analyze construction documents, prepare cost estimates, and support business development through disciplined bidding and strong general contractor relationships.

You will evaluate materials, labor, and equipment, develop project budgets, and identify value-engineering opportunities to maximize profitability while collaborating with project managers and field leadership through bid to execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; or Associate degree with 2 years related experience.
• General knowledge in the engineering or architectural trade can be a benefit.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Experience in commercial and industrial construction is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints and architectural drawings, and the general specifications of this type of work.
• Preparing estimates and maximizing effectiveness through project assessment.
• Evaluates materials to purchase by cost changes and additions.
• Submits 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline.
• Selling projects and building general contractor relationships.
• Compiling and reviewing submittals, materials procurement, and labor and equipment management on multiple projects.
• Able to work closely with project foremen and project managers.
• Include value-engineering ideas on every bid.
• Consistently follows up on submitted bids and budgets with Architect and/or General Contractor to close business.
