Job summary

AIRO Mechanical is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to support construction and project management through accurate cost estimation. You will analyze specifications, gather data, perform take-offs, and prepare cost estimates in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities include on-site data collection, bid proposal development, and supplier quote management. Strong software and MS Office proficiency, plus 2+ years of estimating experience, are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • 2+ years of mechanical estimating experience in construction.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze project plans, specs and requirements to define scope.
  • Conduct on-site visits to gather conditions and constraints.
  • Complete take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates (materials, labor, equipment, overhead).
  • Provide input on value engineering opportunities.
  • Utilize cost databases, historical data and benchmarks to improve accuracy.
  • Develop bid proposals with scope, cost breakdown and qualifications.
  • Collaborate with the bid team to align proposals with project requirements.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
  • Establish and maintain supplier relationships for pricing.
  • Identify and assess risks impacting project costs.
  • Propose risk mitigation strategies for financial success.
  • Work with sales, PMs, architects to refine requirements.
  • Communicate clearly to align team on estimates and goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

As a Mechanical Estimator at Airo Mechanical, you will play a pivotal role in our construction and project management processes. The primary responsibility of this role is to analyze project specifications, gather necessary data, and produce accurate cost estimates. You will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure that our estimates align with project goals and financial objectives.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
  • Identify and assess potential risks that may impact project costs.
  • Propose risk mitigation strategies to ensure the financial success of projects.
  • Work closely with sales, project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to refine project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure all team members are aligned on cost estimates and project goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management, or related field or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (Trimble or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
Physical Requirements:
  • This position is primarily office-based, with standard working hours.
  • Occasional travel to job sites or client meetings may be required.
  • The role involves using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
  • The work environment is typically quiet and professional, with a focus on collaboration and communication within the team.
  • The position may require occasional extended hours during peak project times or to meet critical deadlines.
