Job summary

AIRO Mechanical is seeking a Mechanical Estimator for our multi-family HVAC projects. You will analyze project specifications, gather data, and produce accurate cost estimates in collaboration with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders.

You will perform take-offs, prepare cost breakdowns, and contribute to bid proposals while leveraging cost databases and industry benchmarks. The role involves risk assessment, value engineering input, and close teamwork across departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • 2+ years of mechanical estimating experience in construction.
  • Proven estimator experience in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (Trimble) and MS Office.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and cost estimation accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze project plans and specs to understand the scope.
  • Conduct on-site visits to gather project information.
  • Complete take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Provide input on value engineering opportunities.
  • Use cost databases, historical data and benchmarks to improve accuracy.
  • Develop bid proposals with scope, costs and qualifications.
  • Collaborate with bid team to align with project requirements.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotes.
  • Establish relationships with suppliers for pricing.
  • Identify and assess risks that affect project costs.
  • Propose risk mitigation strategies for financial success.
  • Work with sales, PMs, architects and others to refine requirements.
  • Communicate clearly to align all team members on costs and goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

As a Mechanical Estimator at Airo Mechanical, you will play a pivotal role in our construction and project management processes for Multi-Family HVAC projects. The primary responsibility of this role is to analyze project specifications, gather necessary data, and produce accurate cost estimates. You will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure that our estimates align with project goals and financial objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to understand the scope of work.
  • Conduct on-site visits to gather information about project conditions and constraints.
  • Complete Take Off and pr epare detailed and accurate cost estimates, considering materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Provide input on value engineering opportunities
  • Utilize cost databases, historical data, and industry benchmarks to enhance accuracy .
  • Develop comprehensive bid proposals outlining the scope of work, cost breakdown, and any necessary qualifications.
  • Collaborate with the bid team to ensure all aspects of the proposal align with project requirements.
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
  • Identify and assess potential risks that may impact project costs.
  • Propose risk mitigation strategies to ensure the financial success of projects.
  • Work closely with sales, project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to refine project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure all team members are aligned on cost estimates and project goals.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (Trimble or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
Physical Requirements:
  • This position is primarily office-based, with standard working hours.
  • Occasional travel to job sites or client meetings may be required.
  • The role involves using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
  • The work environment is typically quiet and professional, with a focus on collaboration and communication within the team.
  • The position may require occasional extended hours during peak project periods.
