Job summary

Universal Electrical Service, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our Souderton team.

You will develop accurate cost estimates for commercial projects, collaborating with project managers, vendors, and clients to deliver competitive bids that uphold our standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of electrical estimating experience, strong knowledge of power distribution and NEC requirements, and proficiency with Accubid and Excel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–7 years of electrical estimating experience in commercial projects.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field.
  • Experience with estimating software such as Accubid.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Knowledge of NEC requirements and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Change order pricing and project cost analysis.
  • Ensure estimates comply with applicable electrical codes, project specifications, and company standards.

  • Track bid results and provide post-bid analysis to improve estimating accuracy.

Position Summary

Universal Electrical Service, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Electrical Estimator to join our growing team. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial projects. This role works closely with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to develop comprehensive bids that support the company's commitment to quality, safety, and dependability.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, construction practices, labor productivity, material pricing, and project scheduling.

Minimum 5-7 years of electrical estimating experience required, preferably with a strong commercial electrical field background as a Lead Electrician, Foreman, General Foreman, or Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents.
  • Perform detailed electrical takeoffs and quantity surveys.

  • Experience in conceptual estimating and budgeting with minimal documentation.
Preferred Experience

Experience estimating commercial electrical projects including: Office Buildings, Retail/Shopping Centers, Restaurants, Hotels, Hospitals/Medical Facilities, Clean Rooms/Labs, Schools/Universities.

Additional project experience: Warehouses, Distribution Centers, Manufacturing Facilities, Industrial Facilities, Government Buildings, Banks/Financial Facilities, and Mixed-Use Buildings.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel occasionally for project walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
