Job summary

Howard County Public School System is seeking a skilled trades professional to install, adjust, and maintain commercial doors and related hardware across the school system. You will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and re-keying while documenting changes and ensuring security standards.

Preferred candidates have certifications from locksmith associations and experience in educational or government environments, with basic electronics knowledge and familiarity with powered door operator

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• At least 3 years of commercial door and hardware work including lock servicing and re-keying.
• Ability to read basic construction drawings and hardware schedules.
• Experience with mortise and cylinder locks, door closers, weatherstripping.

Responsibilities

• Install, adjust, and maintain commercial doors and door hardware.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.
• Re-key cores and maintain keying records.
• Troubleshoot automatic door openers and electrified hardware under supervision.
• Respond to emergency calls to restore secure access.
