This extensive presence ensures short delivery times and quick product availability, supporting both national and international projects with consistent quality and service.

The company has exciting growth plans globally, and due to those growth plans we are helping them to recruit a Commercial Development Director to significantly grow and develop their US business.

THE ROLE Commercial Development Director

The incoming Sales Director will be a strategic, self-driven sales leader with exceptional communication skills and a passion for winning new business - both through personal initiative and by inspiring others. As a true player-coach, you will initially lead by example. The Commercial Development Director will be responsible for building a new team by defining roles and responsibilities, establishing a clear sales strategy and process, and hiring and training the right talent. They will also need to implement effective sales tools, set clear goals and metrics, and provide continuous feedback and coaching.

Your mission: unlock the long-term potential of the US markets by identifying priority segments, crafting tailored sub-strategies, and building a specialised, high-performing sales team. Reporting to the Executive VP Sales, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, contributing entrepreneurial insight and creative thinking to the company’s growing presence in the region

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop segment-specific sales strategies in alignment with the Groups overall vision. Set clear, measurable sales targets and define the roadmap to achieve them.

Sales Leadership & Team Building: Lead and mentor the US sales team (starting hands-on, evolving into a team leadership role).

Key Account & Business Development: Personally engage in securing strategic accounts or high-value projects, especially in early growth phases. Build long-term relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and decision-makers in the market

Collaboration Across the Group: Coordinate with the international Sales Directors group to share best practices, align messaging, and avoid overlaps.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring: Track and report on sales performance, forecasts, and market trends. Adjust tactics based on data-driven insights and feedback from the field.

Operational & Commercial Oversight: Working together with the Executive VP Sales, ensure pricing, terms, and commercial agreements are competitive and aligned with group guidelines. Manage budget and resources for the US sales team.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree educated; MBA preferred
  • Demonstrable experience of significantly growing a comparably sized or larger business within a relevant field
  • 10 - 15+ years’ experience in sales leadership positions within MEP, construction, or industrial sectors, with a proven track record of selling complex products/solutions through specifiers, distributors and to contractors, including EPC contractors
  • Strong leader, with demonstrable track record of growing and developing sales and commercial functions.
  • In-depth industry knowledge: Familiarity with at least two of the company’s key market segments: Chemicals and Refineries, Power and Water, Data Centers, Life Science, Advanced Manufacturing and OEM.
  • Experience with technical products: Understanding of product lifecycle from specification to installation, ideally experience with product systems and customised combination of componentry.
  • Leadership experience: Proven success managing and growing a sales team, setting clear goals, and mentoring.
  • Strategic planning & execution: Ability to develop sales strategies, grow market share, and target key segments.
  • Key account management: Experience in managing long sales cycles, handling major accounts, and negotiating complex contracts
