Job summary

Independent Bank in Lansing, MI is offering a full-time summer Commercial Credit Intern program at our Lansing – Abbot Rd. office.

You will work closely with Credit Analysts to gain hands-on experience in financial statement spreading, borrowing bases, commercial loan underwriting, and credit analysis. This internship includes mentoring from credit professionals, collaboration with interns and staff, and a capstone project presented to Executive Leadership.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of accounting and finance.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with Microsoft Product Suites.
• Must be currently enrolled in a relevant field of study.

Responsibilities

• Review credit information to assist in evaluating commercial loan requests.
• Assist with financial statement spreading, borrowing bases, and commercial loan underwriting.
• Analyze personal and corporate tax returns, financial statements, and cash flow information to identify potential risks.
• Assist with monitoring the commercial credit portfolio.
• Analyze various sources of financial information to support credit decisions.
