A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TRAVELING SUPERINTENDENT

At Fiorilli Construction, the Traveling Superintendent is vital in ensuring seamless project execution. Each day begins with supervising construction trade activities, occasionally self-performing tasks. The role often involves traveling and managing multiple projects simultaneously, depending on company workflow. This position demands effective issue resolution, maintaining a healthy and cohesive leadership team, and fostering collaboration and alignment with team members.

Maintaining the construction schedule is a critical responsibility. The Superintendent directs all field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure project completion on schedule, within budget, and at a high-quality level. Tasks include self-performing rough and finish carpentry, miscellaneous finish work, and cleanup as needed. Additionally, the Superintendent orders materials, schedules inspections, and prepares daily and weekly reports.

Managing costs involves coordinating with Project Managers to control job costs, reviewing project budgets, and ensuring adherence to financial constraints. Safety and quality are paramount, with the Superintendent promoting job site safety, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring all subcontractors comply with safety policies.

Another essential duty is the punch list and closeout process. The Superintendent prepares and supervises the completion of preliminary and final punch lists, ensuring subcontractors understand their responsibilities and fulfill each item. Evaluating subcontractors and providing feedback to the General Superintendent are integral parts of this process.

Qualifications For a Superintendent Traveling

  • 3 years of experience working in a large-scale professional commercial construction environment.
  • Strong accountability, problem-solving skills for the greater good, and the ability to maintain solid relationships.
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Cutting-edge technical savvy skills are preferred.
