Job Description
Our Superintendent provides overall direction on projects and develops and maintains strong working relationships with owners and architects throughout the project lifecycle. This individual evaluates project performance, site conditions, safety and quality standards, compliance with scope, and effective management of trade partners. They are also responsible for ensuring constructability reviews, logistics plans, and baseline schedules meet project turnover requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee, manage, and document all day-to-day job site activities, including OSHA safety compliance.
- Direct field personnel according to the project plan.
- Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the Project Manager.
- Report problems promptly to facilitate cost-effective solutions.
- Establish effective relationships with clients, BE&K team members, and subcontractors.
- Request advice from the General Superintendent or Project Executive on materials, sequencing, scheduling, logistics, and personnel.
- Project Start-Up/Turnover: Identify pre-mobilization activities and develop start-up schedules for review.
Scheduling
- Assist in formulating and implementing construction schedules.
- Establish and maintain the project baseline schedule, considering contract and subcontractor input.
- Update the schedule monthly and provide progress reports with a six-week look-ahead.
Safety
- Ensure subcontractors participate in safety meetings before starting work.
- Verify subcontractors have safety documentation and insurance certificates.
- Review daily activities to ensure OSHA and safety standards are met.
Quality Management
- Establish and monitor project benchmarks.
- Ensure timely inspections and communicate results.
Site and Subcontractor Management
- Manage site pre-construction activities, staging, and documentation.
- Manage subcontractor performance and address personnel issues.
- Oversee all construction phases and report progress.
Meetings and Administrative Tasks
- Attend and lead project meetings, safety meetings, and reviews.
- Complete reports, logs, and manage project documentation and safety files.
Project Closeout
- Manage subcontractor closeout, utility transfer, owner training, and punch lists.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering (preferred but not required).
- 8-12 years of experience in electrical-focused construction projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to change and manage ambiguity.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting, and handling materials.
- Work in various weather conditions.
- Stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
