Job summary

Select Development Group is a Southwest Florida-based general contractor seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our expanding team in Naples. The role covers ground-up and renovation projects with emphasis on accuracy, collaboration, and speed in bidding.

You'll review drawings, perform takeoffs, develop budgets, manage bids, and contribute to preconstruction strategies using Bluebeam, PlanSwift/STACK, Buildertrend, and Excel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of CSI divisions and Florida building codes.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and specs across CSI divisions to produce takeoffs.
• Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates.
• Develop budgets, cost models, and estimate breakdowns.
• Manage bids from ITBs to leveling and coordinate subcontractors.
• Support value engineering and constructability insights.
• Track market pricing, labor trends, and escalation factors.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to support our expanding portfolio of ground-up and renovation projects. If you excel in multi-division estimating and thrive in a collaborative environment, we want to meet you.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Construction Estimating

• Review and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs across all CSI divisions
• Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates
• Develop budgets, cost models, and estimate breakdowns
• Maintain historical pricing, cost databases, and benchmarking tools

Bid Management & Subcontractor Coordination

• Manage the full bid process from ITBs to final leveling
• Build and maintain strong subcontractor and supplier relationships
• Evaluate subcontractor proposals for scope accuracy, clarifications, and exclusions
• Lead pre-bid walkthroughs and coordinate RFI processes
• Prepare bid tabs, scope sheets, and proposal packages

Preconstruction Strategy & Collaboration

• Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and leadership
• Provide value engineering recommendations and constructability insights
• Support project handoff meetings and contract development
• Assist in developing schedules of values and preliminary schedules

Cost Control & Reporting

• Prepare detailed internal and client-facing budgets
• Track market pricing, labor trends, and escalation factors
• Document assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, and alternates

Tools & Technology

• Bluebeam, PlanSwift/STACK or other comparable estimating software
• Buildertrend or similar project management software
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work efficiently with digital plan sets and overlays

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred)
• Strong understanding of CSI divisions, Florida building codes, and construction means/methods
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Ethical, transparent, and team-oriented
