Job summary

SA Recycling, a leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is seeking an experienced Commercial Buyer to join our growing Commercial Sales team in Chattanooga, TN. You will manage a book of business with Commercial, Industrial and Dealer accounts for Ferrous and Non-Ferrous materials, and use your negotiation skills to grow volume and profitability.

Your role includes building lasting relationships, identifying new partners, and negotiating pricing and service agreements consistent

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong contract negotiation and interpersonal skills required.
• Demonstrated buying/selling skills and product knowledge.
• Ability to generate and qualify leads and close deals.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
• Proficient in MS Office programs. SAI or similar software experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Purchase ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals to grow margins, volume, and market share.
• Identify and secure new commercial, industrial, and dealer accounts.
• Purchase scrap metals following current market conditions and within pricing standard and models as set by management.
• Conduct regularly scheduled supplier visits and sales activities to strengthen relationships and stay abreast of business and market conditions.
• Maintain knowledge of environmental regulations to ensure compliant procurement.
• Demonstrate ethical customer service and sales skills to ensure repeat business.
• Participate in the development of regional and individual purchasing, marketing, and profitability goals.
• Maintain accurate records for all purchasing, sourcing, prospecting, and follow up activities.
• Partner with facility General Manager’s in inspection of scrap metals and material to ensure specification, volume, and pricing targets.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

As a Buyer you will be accountable for growing and managing a book of business consisting of Commercial, Industrial and Dealer accounts for both Ferrous (FE) and Non-Ferrous (NF) materials. As the face of SA Recycling, you will use your exceptional communications and relationship building skills to build, deepen, and support, long-lasting relationships with all assigned accounts; and your superior negotiation skills come into play as you identify new business partners and negotiate pricing and service agreements to increase volume and profitability.

Responsibilities of a Commercial Buyer

• Responsible for the purchase of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals and materials to grow margins, volume, and market share.
• Deepens market share by actively identifying and securing new commercial, industrial, and dealer accounts.
• Purchase scrap metals and material following current market conditions and within pricing standard and models as set by the General Manager and National Sales Team.
• Conduct regularly scheduled suppler visits and sales activities to strengthen relationships and keep abreast of business and market conditions.
• Maintain knowledge of various federal, state, and local environmental regulations to ensure compliance with the purchase and processing of various materials.
• Demonstrate exceptional and ethical customer service and sales skills to ensure repeat business.
• Participate in the development of regional and individual purchasing, marketing, and profitability goals.
• Maintain accurate records for all purchasing, sourcing, prospecting, and follow up activities.
• Partner with facility General Manager’s in the inspection of scrap metals and material to ensure specification, volume, and pricing targets.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for a Commercial Buyer

• Post secondary degree in Sales, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent experience.
