Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking an experienced Buyer to grow and manage a book of business across Commercial, Industrial, and Dealer accounts for both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. You will negotiate pricing and service agreements, while building long-lasting relationships with customers and partners to increase volume and profitability.

The role emphasizes market awareness, adherence to pricing models, supplier visits, and strong communication skills to drive margins and growth for SA Recycling.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 4 years Buyer experience in scrap metals recycling.
• Strong contract negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Proven buying/selling skills and product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Purchase ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals to grow margins and market share.
• Identify and secure new commercial, industrial, and dealer accounts.
• Follow current market conditions and pricing models set by GM and National Sales Team.
• Conduct supplier visits and sales activities to strengthen relationships.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations in purchase and processing of materials.
• Provide exceptional customer service and drive repeat business.
• Contribute to regional purchasing, marketing, and profitability goals.
• Maintain accurate records of purchasing, sourcing, and follow-up.
• Collaborate with facility GM’s to meet volume and pricing targets.

SA Recycling, a leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively looking for an experienced Buyer to join our growing Commercial Sales team. As a Buyer you will be accountable for growing and managing a book of business consisting of Commercial, Industrial and Dealer accounts for both Ferrous (FE) and Non-Ferrous (NF) materials. As the face of SA Recycling, you will use your exceptional communications and relationship building skills to build, deepen, and support, long-lasting relationships with all assigned accounts; and your superior negotiation skills come into play as you identity new business partners and negotiate pricing and service agreements to increase volume and profitability.

Responsibilities Of An Buyer

• Responsible for the purchase of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals and materials to grow margins, volume, and market share.
• Deepens market share by actively identifying and securing new commercial, industrial, and dealer accounts.
• Purchase scrap metals and material following current market conditions and within pricing standard and models as set by the General Manager and National Sales Team.
• Conduct regularly scheduled suppler visits and sales activities to strengthen relationships and keep abreast of business and market conditions.
• Maintain knowledge of various federal, state, and local environmental regulations to ensure compliance for the purchase and processing of various materials.
• Demonstrate exceptional and ethical customer service and sales skills to ensue repeat business.
• Participate in the development of regional and individual purchasing, marketing, and profitability goals.
• Maintain accurate records for all purchasing, sourcing, prospecting, and follow up activities.
• Partner with facility General Manager’s in the inspection of scrap metals and material to ensure specification, volume, and pricing targets are being met.

Qualifications Of An Buyer

• Associate’s degree, Bachelors preferred, related to Sales, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; or 4 years Buyer (Account Management) experience in the scrap metals recycling industry.
• Strong contract negotiation and interpersonal skills required.
• Demonstrated buying/selling skills and product knowledge.
• Ability to generate and qualify leads and close deals.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and to prioritize effectively.
• Proficient in MS Office programs. SAI or similar software experience a plus.
