Job summary

Anchor Group Management Inc. is seeking a Commercial Underwriter to join our team in Schaumburg, IL. This position reports to the Underwriting Manager and reviews, documents and analyzes commercial auto risks according to carrier guidelines.

Responsibilities include reviewing applications and renewals, pricing with models or deviations, issuing quotes and policies, and supporting broker referrals. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 1-year Commercial Auto Underwriting experience.
• Knowledge of Underwriting principles and ISO rules.
• Ability to manage, prioritize and perform multiple tasks and projects.
• Effective interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
• Willingness to travel overnight up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve applications submitted and renewals per carrier guidelines.
• Respond to referrals or submissions from broker partners through POS system within standard timeframes.
• Determine pricing by applying predictive model results or deviations with underwriting leadership.
• Establish proficiency with loss rating, composite rating and other rating methods.
• Prepare quotes, issue policies and follow up on quote subjectivities.
• Prescreen renewal business and advise non-renewal when needed.
• Work autonomously and think creatively.
• Accountability for results in assigned Territory and/or Brokers; propose solutions to management.
• Stay current with changing trends, economic indicators, competitors and regulations.
• Maintain professional knowledge by attending workshops and reading professional publications.
• Contribute to team goals and other duties as assigned.
