Role Description

This full-time, on-site Commercial Appliance Technician role is based in the Iowa City–Cedar Rapids area. The technician will diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of commercial kitchen appliances, such as ovens, ranges, dishwashers, refrigeration units, and food preparation equipment. Daily responsibilities include performing scheduled preventative maintenance, responding to service calls, conducting safety and performance checks, and documenting all work performed. The role also involves communicating clearly with customers about issues, solutions, and preventive care, as well as coordinating with the operations team to manage parts, tools, and service schedules. The technician is expected to follow all safety procedures, adhere to company standards, and support a professional, customer-focused service environment.

Qualifications

• Technical proficiency in diagnosing and repairing commercial kitchen or similar mechanical/electrical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in field service environments.
• Effective communication skills for explaining technical issues and solutions to non-technical customers.
• Capability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and prioritize multiple service calls.
• Comfort with working in commercial kitchen environments and following strict safety and sanitation standards.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for traveling between customer sites.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in appliance repair, HVAC, electrical, or related field is preferred.
• Prior experience as a commercial appliance, HVAC, or industrial maintenance technician is highly beneficial.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training and stay current with new equipment and industry best practices.
