Job summary

tarte is seeking a hands-on, experienced engineer to join our commerce tech team in New York City on a hybrid basis. You will contribute to Shopify Plus apps, work with Liquid, Node.js, and React, and help shape the technology behind our global ecommerce platform.

You’ll own AWS Lambda functions, integrate with OMS, and collaborate with Product, Merchandising, Marketing, and other cross-functional partners to deliver scalable solutions that drive business outcomes.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of ecommerce engineering experience with Shopify Plus
• Hands-on AWS Lambda experience in serverless architectures
• Experience architecting integrations across ERP, OMS, CRM, payments, and fulfillment
• Ability to clearly communicate technical architecture to both technical and non-technical partners
• Experience mentoring engineers and sharing technical knowledge across a team
• Comfortable owning vendor evaluations, including setting criteria, assessing capabilities, and providing recommendations
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with a solutions-oriented mindset

Responsibilities

• Write code for Shopify Plus custom apps using Liquid, Node.js, and React
• Own and extend AWS Lambda functions connecting OMS to the commerce stack
• Partner with the OMS team on backend integrations across order management, fulfillment, and downstream systems
• Evaluate options and communicate the why behind technical decisions
• Provide architecture guidance and review approaches for scalability
• Mentor engineers and share knowledge through code reviews and problem solving
• Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and other teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Evaluate platform changes and AI-enabled features to improve ecommerce experiences
