We are seeking Testing and Commissioning Engineers to work in ComEd’s West region. This role involves field work, troubleshooting substation equipment, and supporting maintenance and commissioning activities. The position includes a take-home vehicle and opportunities for overtime pay. Responsibilities include commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting protection and control systems such as relays, SCADA, automation, fiber optics, power line carrier, and revenue metering. Engineers will develop plans, perform tests, analyze results, and support corrective actions, while leading safety and maintenance efforts.

Primary Purpose
To perform testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting on transmission and distribution substation equipment, including developing plans, executing tests, analyzing results, and supporting emergency and routine maintenance activities.

Primary Duties

1. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on relays, communication equipment, power reclosers, etc., following established manuals.
2. Conduct acceptance and in-service testing of transformers, circuit breakers, panels, SCADA, and related equipment.
3. Assist with restoring malfunctioning equipment during emergencies through hands-on testing.
4. Participate in training sessions, both on-the-job and classroom-based.
5. Complete documentation such as reports, test data, and relay settings to record work performed.

Job Scope
Conduct maintenance, testing, and installation activities on power equipment within the substation environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 0-3 years of experience, or an associate's degree with 2-5 years, or relevant experience equivalent to 5-7 years.
• Successful completion of the TECH Test (except for those with an accredited engineering degree).
• Knowledge of regulations, standards, codes, and practices related to maintenance and testing.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics, and use basic test instruments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the service territory.
• Availability for shift work and emergency response, including 24/7 coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Experience with electrical power equipment and troubleshooting, especially in Distribution Automation.

• Salary range: $78,400 - $107,800 annually.
