Job summary

Trillium Staffing in Rapid City, SD seeks Journeyman Combo Welders for a 100 MW power plant project. You will weld TIG and SMAW on stainless and carbon steel, read blueprints, and assist pipefitters.

Shifts are days 6:00 AM–4:30 PM or nights 6:00 PM–4:30 AM, Monday–Saturday, 10 hours each. Pay is $47/hour (day) or $49/hour (night) with $125/day per diem for all scheduled days.

Qualifications

• Journeyman combo welder for power plant project.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Weld tests required on site: GTAW and combo qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Weld TIG and SMAW on stainless and carbon steel.
• Read and interpret blueprints/schematics for piping layouts.
• Assist pipefitters with measurements and prep work.
• Support other trades on site when needed.

Job description

Trillium is now seeking Combo Welders in the Rapid City, SD area!!

Trillium is looking for Journeyman Combo Welders for a Power Plant project in Rapid City, SD.

The welders will be responsible for welding TIG and stick-on stainless steel and carbon.This is a 100 MW power plant that has around 10-20,000 sq foot of piping and conduit to be installed.Will need to be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, and other written diagrams. Will be asked to assist pipefitters with measurements and prep work, also might be asked to assist with other trades on site when needed. Work is scheduled to continue through the end of the year and could trickle into early 2027.

There are two shifts available for days and nights.Day shift is 6 AM - 4:30 PM and night shift is 6PM - 4:30 AM.All shifts will work Monday-Saturday, 10 hours each day.Day shift pay is $47/hour and night shift is $49/hour.Per diem is $125/day all 7 days, as long as candidates work all scheduled days.

Weld test is done on site prior to orientation. Welders will be required to pass both of the following weld tests:

• GTAW Only –
• 2.75” OD Carbon Steel Monster Coupon (0.625” Wall Thickness)
• GTAW for all Passes - ER70S-2 Electrodes per the WPS
• 6G Testing Position

• GTAW and SMAW Combo –
• 2.75” OD Carbon Steel Monster Coupon (0.625” Wall Thickness) –
• GTAW for Root (not to exceed 0.125” in thickness) –
• SMAW for Hot Pass, Fill and Cap Passes (min. 0.500” thickness fill & cap)
• 6G Testing Position

• Must be able to pass all pre-employment screens
• Must be able to pass weld test
• Must have all basic hand tools for the job
• Candidates must wear all required PPE for the job
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the site
• Be willing to work long hours in the elements, standing/sitting/crouching, etc.
