Matrix Service, Inc. in Rougemont, NC is seeking a skilled welder to perform welding, brazing, and cutting on pipe in an industrial construction environment, following jobsite specifications and safety standards.

The role requires at least five years in refinery maintenance or construction, certification in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW or FCAW, and the ability to pass welding tests, with work involving high- and low-pressure pipe and NDE testing.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of five (5) years or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/or construction experience
• General knowledge of basic hand tools
• Must be able to pass Weld Test and have practical welding skill
• Must possess current certification in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW or FCAW
• Complete Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client / Site specific training
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active status within the required drug testing program
• Must pass background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting
• Will talk and hear to communicate
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools
• May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs
• Will work at slight heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms using the appropriate fall protection requirements
• Must be able to work in weathering conditions including heat conditions while wearing appropriate PPE
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots
