SAFEbuilt is looking for a Combination Building Inspector to conduct inspections for building projects in Midland, Texas. You will have a crucial role in ensuring compliance with building codes and interacting with various stakeholders to clarify technical matters.

Qualifications

• Perform daily field inspections of residential, commercial, and public facility construction projects.
• Interact with the public to explain technical information.
• Review residential and commercial plans for compliance with applicable codes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records to document inspections and test results.
• Provide recommendations regarding interpretations of standards.
• Log inspection reports and enter results into permitting software.

Skills

Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology

3+ years experience with Interpretation of codes in the field

Ability to positively interact with staff and the public

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Good time management, organization, attention to detail

Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office

Education

Texas State Plumbing Inspector License required

ICC Commercial Combination Inspector preferred

ICC Residential Combination Inspector preferred

ICC Inspector certifications in multiple trades preferred
