Description

Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Combat System Engineer at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

The Combat System Engineer will be the primary engineer for the Aegis Combat System (ACS) efforts associated with the functional design, detailed design, testing and production groups associated with the current ship classes under construction. Specifically, this position will:

  1. Functional and Detailed Design
    • Work collaboratively with the Functional and Detailed Design groups to ensure that the ACS and support equipment are designed, developed, and arranged properly to maximize operational performance.
    • Develop and support relationships with vendors in support of these efforts.
  2. Testing
    • Work closely with the Testing group to ensure that all systems associated with the ACS meet or exceed testing requirements.
    • Assist the Testing group with developing and validating tests.
  3. Production
    • Work closely with the Production group to ensure that all systems associated with the ACS are installed properly.
    • Validate that all required material is available to accurately install ACS equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Planning and scheduling work associated with the design and installation of the ACS.
  • Build relationships and coordinate with vendors and sub-contractors.
  • Review and approve CDRL submissions to the government.
  • Review and approve compartment arrangement drawings.
  • Ensure that all equipment associated with the ACS is located to maximize operational readiness.
  • Respond to issues that arise with the installation and handling of ACS equipment.
  • Requires travel to support ACS equipment vendor and government needs.
  • Work closely with the Combat Systems Specialist and C5I Engineer.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of experience of increasing responsibility in an Aegis Combat System field of competence OR
  • Associates Degree with 10 years of experience of increasing responsibility in an Aegis Combat System field of competence OR
  • HS Diploma with 12 years of experience of increasing responsibility in an Aegis Combat System field of competence.

SKILLS

  • Experience with the Aegis Combat System and associated support systems.
  • Relevant U.S. Navy experience onboard a Guided Missile Destroyer or Cruiser.
  • Experience with concept and functional ship design.
  • Must have current computer skills relevant to the field of competence.
  • Must have ability to work within schedule and budget restraints.
  • Ability to approach challenging problems with creative solutions.
  • Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
  • A basic Earned Value Management System competency is desirable.
