Job summary

The State of Ohio’s Workers' Compensation agency in Columbus seeks an Administrative Professional 3 to provide high-level administrative support to the Director of Safety Grants & Rebates. This on-site role coordinates workflows, prepares materials, tracks deadlines, and maintains organized documentation across multiple programs.

Flex-time options exist within the core hours of 8:00am–5:00pm, with an on-site work location in the William Green Building.

Qualifications

  • 30 mos. exp. or 30 mos. trg. in secretarial/administrative professional field.
  • Or completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications; 12 mos. exp. in secretarial/administrative professional field.
  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Administrative Professional 2, 16872.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive administrative support to the Director of Safety Grants & Rebates, handling non-routine tasks across the Safety Grant Programs, WSIC, and Safety Council Program.
  • Coordinates section workflows by organizing program tasks, routing assignments, tracking deadlines and documentation, and aligning workstreams to keep projects and deliverables on schedule.
  • Interprets and applies BWC policies to resolve administrative matters while preparing, editing, and reviewing correspondence, reports, presentations, and meeting materials for accuracy and consistency.
  • Facilitates communication and information flow between the Director and internal/external stakeholders, relaying decisions, tracking commitments, and providing timely updates.
  • Coordinates calendars for the director and the section, meetings, and section logistics, preparing agendas and materials, recording notes, following up on resulting action items and maintaining organized section documentation.

Job Description

BWC’s core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC’s seven offices across the state. BWC offers flex-time work schedules that allow an employee to start the day as early as 7:00am or as late as 8:30am. Flex-time schedules are based on operational need and require supervisor approval.

Salary Information: Hourly wage is expected to be paid at step 1 of the pay range associated with the position for candidates who are new employees of the state. Current employees of the state will be placed in the appropriate step based on any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code.
