Job Summary: Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history, collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides education, consultation, or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.

Key Position Details:

Allina Health is opening this new 1.0 FTE Colorectal Surgery position due to growth in the Oncology Service Line and surgical volume. Locations include United Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and associated clinics. Expected call rotation: participation in surgical oncology or general surgery call (less than 1 in 4).

Schedule: 5 8-hour days per week, including 2 days of clinic, 1 day in the OR, with scopes and OR days, or full days for scopes, and 1 day for admin tasks.

Cases include colorectal cancer, benign conditions, screening colonoscopy, and diagnostic endoscopy.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities:

  1. Provides direct patient care for colorectal surgery clinical patients.
  2. Reviews patient's medical history, collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing data.
  3. Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information for patient care decisions.
  4. Provides education, consultation, or intervention to patients and their families.
  5. Works collaboratively with patients to improve health and well-being.
  6. Practices thoughtfully, considering cultural diversity, autonomy, and legal responsibilities.
  7. Performs general surgery procedures and care.
  8. Provides preoperative and postoperative care.
  9. Charts in electronic format per licensure and scope.
  10. Participates in multidisciplinary team case management.
  11. Provides care in ambulatory clinics, inpatient, or outpatient hospital settings.
  12. Participates in on-call rotation.

Job Requirements:

  1. Doctoral/Ph.D. level degree in Medicine (MD or DO) or foreign equivalent from an approved medical school.
  2. Completion of ACGME or AOA accredited residency and/or fellowship in General Surgery.
  3. Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice if working in MN.
  4. ACLS-BLS Tier 3 certification as required within 180 days.
  5. Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Colorectal Surgery.
  6. DEA Certificate, Prescription Monitoring Program, and NPI registration upon hire.

Physical Demands: Medium Work: Lifting up to 32 lbs occasionally, up to 25 lbs frequently.

Pay Range: $430,000 to $475,000 per year, depending on experience, education, and union agreement.
