Job Summary: Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history, collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides education, consultation, or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.

Key Position Details:

Allina Health is opening this new 1.0 FTE Colorectal Surgery position due to growth in the Oncology Service Line and surgical volume. Locations include United Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and associated clinics. Expected call rotation involves participating in surgical oncology or general surgery call (less than 1 in 4).

Schedule: 5 8-hour shifts per week, including 2 clinic days, 1 OR day (either day scopes + day of OR or full day scopes), and 1 admin day per week.

Cases include colorectal cancer, benign conditions, screening colonoscopy, and diagnostic endoscopy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care for colorectal surgery patients.
  • Reviews medical history, collects, prioritizes, and synthesizes data relevant to patient health.
  • Evaluates and interprets information to make clinical decisions.
  • Provides education, consultation, or intervention to patients and families.
  • Collaborates with patients to improve health outcomes.
  • Practices with cultural sensitivity, respect for autonomy, and legal considerations.
  • Performs general surgery procedures and pre/postoperative care.
  • Documents in electronic medical records in compliance with licensure and scope.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary case management teams.
  • May provide care in outpatient or inpatient settings.
  • May participate in on-call rotation.

Job Requirements:

  • Doctoral or equivalent degree in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of ACGME or AOA accredited residency and/or fellowship in General Surgery.
  • Licensed Physician in MN (if applicable).
  • ACLS and BLS Tier 3 certification within 180 days (if applicable).
  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Colorectal Surgery.
  • DEA, Prescription Monitoring, and NPI registration upon hire.

Physical Demands: Medium work; lifting up to 32 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs frequently.

Pay Range: $430,000 to $475,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and union status.
