Job summary

Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree, CA is seeking a part-time instructor to deliver assigned classes and support the college's mission. You will meet classes as scheduled, publish syllabi, maintain office hours, and advise students on course content, grading, and progress toward SLOs.

You will develop instruction aligned with the COR, prepare syllabi, assess student progress, and refer students to tutoring.

Qualifications

• Master’s in physical education or related field as listed above.
• Bachelor’s degree in one of the listed disciplines.
• AND Master’s in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy.
• OR the equivalent.
• Bachelor’s or higher with two years of professional experience.
• Associate degree with six years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Meet classes and laboratories on days and times per the published class schedule.
• Publish in syllabus and maintain office hours; advise students enrolled in the instructor's classes on Course content, scope and grading.
• Develop and implement instruction that fulfills COR requirements and program standards.
• Prepare and submit necessary forms and respond to administration regarding petitions and grievances.
• Refer students to tutoring and related services and supervise off-campus activities when required.
• Keep official records and submit them by deadlines.

Education

Master’s in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education

Bachelor’s in any of the above

AND Master’s in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy

OR the equivalent

Any bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of professional experience

Any associate degree AND six years of professional experience
