Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications as stated: Master’s in physics, astronomy or astrophysics or
• Bachelor’s in physics or astronomy with Master’s in engineering, mathematics, meteorology or geophysics or
• the equivalent as allowed by the district.

Responsibilities

• Meet classes and laboratories on days and times assigned per the published class schedule.
• Publish in syllabus and maintain office hours; advise students enrolled in the instructor's classes on course content, grading criteria, degree requirements, SLOs, enrichment opportunities, and related career opportunities.
• Develop and implement instruction that fulfills COR requirements and aligns with program standards and objectives.
• Develop a written syllabus based on Academic Senate standards and submit per District policy.
• Periodically assess and advise students on progress toward course objectives.
• Respect student rights as specified in policy and law.
• In the absence of full-time faculty, submit textbook/adoption forms timely; refer students to tutoring and services as needed.
• Supervise students in off-campus activities when required by the course.
• Assign and submit grades by deadline per policy and Education Code regulations.
• Keep official records, collect data, and submit records by deadlines.

Education

Master’s in physics, astronomy or astrophysics
