Job summary

Penn State University invites applications for a Program Advisor position serving Upward Bound Programs at Reading High School. The role supports approximately 100 students, coordinating social, educational, and service-learning activities in collaboration with school districts, community partners, and campus offices.

The advisor provides guidance on course selection, college readiness, financial aid, health and wellness, career services, and leadership development, while organizing year-round

Qualifications

• Understand and articulate unit policies and federal grant guidelines in oral and written communication.
• Demonstrated experience in providing direct college preparation services to 9th–12th-grade students.
• Experience working with low-income, first-generation high school students from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Organize, develop, and implement social, educational, and service-learning programs for Upward Bound participants.
• Recruit students and plan programming for grant-determined school districts.
• Coordinate parent and student events and engage community stakeholders.
• Advise, tutor, or refer participants on college readiness, financial aid, health and wellness, career services, academic advising, student leadership, and diversity and inclusion.
• Develop and implement academic year and summer programming in compliance with federal guidelines.
• Maintain effective working relationships with school districts, community partners, and campus and university offices.
