Job summary

Penn State University seeks a Program Advisor for the Upward Bound Programs (UBP) at Reading High School, housed within the Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity. The advisor will work with about 100 students and coordinate with Penn State Berks on site-based programming during the year and summer sessions.

The role includes recruitment, college readiness guidance, financial aid support, health and wellness, and collaboration with districts, partners, and campus offices to deliver

Qualifications

• Understand and articulate unit policies and federal grant guidelines in oral and written communication.
• Demonstrated experience in providing direct college preparation services to 9th- through 12th-grade students.
• Experience working with low-income, first-generation high school students from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Organize, develop, and implement social, educational, and service-learning programs/activities for Upward Bound Programs’ participants.
• Recruit participants and plan grant-determined school district events and community stakeholder activities.
• Advise, tutor, or refer program participants on college readiness, financial aid, health and wellness, career services, academic advising, student leadership, and inclusion.
• Develop and maintain academic year and summer residential programming in compliance with federal guidelines.
