Job summary

Job description

NC State University is hiring a College of Engineering Academic Advisor. The advisor will provide individualized academic guidance to first-year and transfer engineering students, assist with course selection, monitor academic progress, review transfer credits, teach engineering success courses, and support student programs and recruitment efforts within the College of Engineering.

Highlights
  • Provide tailored academic advising on registration, degree requirements, and course selection for first-year and transfer engineering students.
  • Monitor student academic progress and connect them with resources to ensure successful degree completion.
  • Review transcripts and collaborate with academic departments on transfer credit evaluations.
  • Teach one to two sections of E 122: Engineering Student Success during the spring semester.
  • Develop advising materials alongside the coordinator, assistant dean, and student services manager.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Planning and Marketing Manager to create communications for new transfer students.
  • Participate in orientations, recruitment events, and university/college committees supporting institutional goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google applications, and Adobe Acrobat or Fox-it.
  • Required qualifications include a post-baccalaureate degree or equivalent experience, higher education advising experience, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with diverse student populations.
  • Salary range is $52,000 to $62,000 with full benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement programs, and paid time off.
