Job summary

Easterseals Massachusetts is seeking a College Navigator / College Student Support Specialist to provide on-campus and virtual support to college students with disabilities as they adjust to academics and living on campus.

The role focuses on placement at Middlesex Community College (Bedford campus, occasionally Lowell), Brandeis University and Bentley University in Waltham with a typical 8 am to 5 pm schedule and 35-hour workweek.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field required; Master’s degree in related field preferred.
• Experience with young adults with disabilities preferred.
• Knowledge of Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, etc.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office apps and Zoom.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• TB test and health documentation clearance for work.
• COVID-19 vaccine strongly preferred due to campus policies.

Responsibilities

• Develop action plans each semester addressing each student’s goals.
• Provide 1:1 coaching to support higher education and independent living goals.
• Support executive functioning skills (time management, organization, scheduling).
• Identify barriers and problem-solve with students and college staff.
• Create a supportive environment between college and student.
• Advocate for student needs to college staff.
• Maintain documentation monitoring client progress and goals.
• Coordinate with referring agencies and program manager (monthly notes, weekly check-ins).
• Navigate online learning platforms (Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle).
• Help students understand current college culture and expectations.
