Job summary

RK&K is seeking a College Intern to support our Construction Management and Construction Inspection Division in Charlotte, NC. The role offers on-the-job training, mentorship, and exposure to materials, testing, contract management, and client interface across roadway and bridge projects.

You will assist with inspection, materials tracking, quantity calculations, and various pre-operation meetings, while developing practical skills in construction management and CEI processes.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering & Management, Environmental Science or related area.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction management support, including inspection and monitoring of roadway and bridge structures to ensure contract compliance and safety regulations.
• Assist with materials tracking and testing to ensure compliance.
• Provide contract management support for construction projects.
• Support quantities calculations, as-built sketches, constructability reviews, attend project control meetings and other pre-operation meetings, and issue tracking.
• Engage in solving problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions.
• Review lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment.

Job description

RK&K is hiring a College Intern to join our Construction Management and Construction Inspection Division.

Our interns will receive on-the-job training, mentorship and insight into various aspects of the consulting Construction Management and Construction Inspection industry from materials, testing, construction contract management and client interface. Individuals will be exposed to various challenges, projects and technology related to their specific discipline.

As a paid intern in our CM/CEI Division you will:

• Provide construction management support, including assisting with inspection and monitoring of roadway and bridge structures to ensure compliance with contract documents and safety regulations
• Assisting with materials tracking and testing to ensure compliance as required
• Provide contract management support for Construction Projects
• Provide construction management support, including assisting with quantity calculations, as-built sketches, constructability reviews, attending project control meetings and other pre-operation meetings, and issue tracking
• Fully engage in solving problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions
• Review lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using standard survey and field engineering equipment

Required Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering & Management, Environmental Science or related area
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel)
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
