College and Career Readiness Instructor - Part time Status

The College and Career Readiness (CCR) Instructor is responsible for delivering the established six-week CCR curriculum in an engaging, supportive, and professional on-campus classroom environment. The Instructor prepares students for success in their chosen career training program by developing foundational skills in communication, study habits, time management, leadership, teamwork, financial literacy, conflict resolution, career readiness, and overcoming barriers to success. The Instructor provides guidance, encouragement, and mentorship while helping students understand college expectations, available resources, professional behaviors, and the skills necessary to successfully transition into their program of study.

  • Prepare for and deliver the established and approved College and Career Readiness curriculum, lesson plans, activities, and demonstrations in a professional and engaging manner.
  • Review and discuss the course syllabus, program expectations, policies, procedures, and available student resources at the beginning of the term.
  • Facilitate classroom activities, discussions, group projects, and practical exercises that promote communication, critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Teach and reinforce effective study skills, learning strategies, time management, stress management, goal setting, and organizational skills.
  • Help students develop professional behaviors, including communication, respect, accountability, teamwork, ethical work habits, and appropriate workplace conduct.
  • Provide instruction and activities related to financial literacy, diversity, conflict resolution, leadership development, and overcoming personal or professional roadblocks.
  • Encourage students to recognize and address challenges that may affect their academic progress and provide appropriate support and guidance.
  • Introduce students to college resources, support services, policies, procedures, and expectations to help them successfully transition into their program of study.
  • Incorporate basic computer, reading, writing, and communication skills that support student success in college and the workplace.
  • Collaborate with Career Services to provide instruction and guidance related to career readiness, including resume and cover letter development, job searching, professional portfolios, interview preparation, networking, and professional social media.
  • Reinforce the importance of professionalism, career development, community involvement, and networking as components of long-term career success.
  • Collaborate with program supervisors or Lead Instructors to help students understand what to expect in their chosen program, including participation in program demonstrations and exposure to classroom and hands‑on learning expectations.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, confidence, accountability, and personal growth.
  • Monitor student attendance, punctuality, participation, and engagement throughout the six‑week course and address concerns appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate and timely attendance and student records in accordance with institutional requirements.
  • Respond to student questions and provide clarification, encouragement, and appropriate guidance to support student understanding and success.
  • Recognize students who may require additional support and work with the Director of Education and appropriate departments to develop strategies or action plans to address concerns.
  • Maintain a professional classroom environment and ensure classroom materials, equipment, and activities are prepared for daily instruction.
  • Attend required training, meetings, and professional development activities to maintain current knowledge and continually improve instructional practices.
  • Work proactively with the Director of Education and other campus departments to support student success, retention, and successful transition into the student's chosen program.

PhysicalDemandsandWorkingConditions:

This position requires light work, occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds, while frequently lifting up to 10 pounds. Instructionrequiresstandingfor longperiodsoftime(upto5hoursatatime),expressingcomplextopicsthrough speech, sufficient vision to write notes for instruction, and hearing to interact with students. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

WorkingHours

This position is based on a residential six-week course schedule and may require both instructional and administrative time. The schedule may include a split shift with morning and evening instructional responsibilities, Monday through Thursday.

MinimumQualifications:

Education: Associate's degree in Education, Organizational Leadership, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Career Development, or a related field.

Experience: One or more years of experience in career coaching, life coaching, education, leadership development, student support, professional development, motivational speaking, or a related field. Prior instructional or classroom experience preferred.
