An established industry player is seeking a College Aide to support mechanical and marine engineering tasks for the Staten Island Ferry Maintenance Unit. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction, maintenance, and reconstruction of vessels. You'll engage in inspecting shipyard work, overseeing contractors, and improving preventive maintenance systems. Ideal candidates will possess strong quantitative, analytical, and technical skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office. Under the direct and general supervision of the Deputy Director of Ferry Engineering, the College Aide will perform mechanical and marine engineering duties in support of the Staten Island Ferry Maintenance Unit. Selected candidates will gain experience in activities related to the construction, maintenance, and reconstruction of vessels and their mechanical systems, including ferries, barges, and other floating vessels.
Preference will be given to candidates with strong quantitative, analytical, technical, and communication skills.
