Job summary

The University of North Texas is seeking a TRIO Talent Search Advisor for Braswell High School in Denton. This college-prep role reports to UNT-Student Engagement within UNT-Student Affairs and involves outreach, instruction, and student support.

You will recruit approximately 230 high school students, provide academic skill development, and guide them through college exploration, FAFSA, and financial aid processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide information about Talent Search to school administrators, students, and community organizations.
• Recruit and retain a minimum of 230 eligible participants, providing them with at least 2 Talent Search services per school semester. Document all services and student information into the Talent Search student database, including necessary files and documents as per the TRIO guidelines.
• Prepare and administer lessons in the areas of academic success, financial literacy, life skills, career and college exploration following the approved TS curriculum guide.
• Coordinate and participate in college and career field trips or events for participants during the school year and summer.
• Meet with senior students on a consistent basis to guide them to successful high school graduation, college enrollment and receipt of financial aid, or Apprenticeship placement.
• Responsible for ensuring that TS Objectives are met for assigned student caseload and documentation is accurate.
