Job summary

The University of North Texas is seeking a college prep advisor to be located at Braswell High School for the TRIO Talent Search Program. You will recruit and support approximately 230 Denton High School students with academic skill development and college/career exploration to guide postsecondary paths.

Responsibilities include delivering TS curriculum, organizing field trips, and helping students achieve graduation, college enrollment and financial aid success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to lead student employees and volunteers.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide information about Talent Search to school administrators, students, and community organizations.
• Recruit and retain a minimum of 230 eligible participants, providing them with at least 2 Talent Search services per school semester.
• Document all services and student information into the Talent Search student database, including necessary files and documents as per the TRIO guidelines.
• Prepare and administer lessons in academic success, financial literacy, life skills, career and college exploration.
• Coordinate and participate in college and career field trips or events for participants during the school year and summer.
• Participate in trainings, staff development, staff meetings and maintain communication with team members and supervisor.
• Meet with senior students to guide them to graduation, college enrollment and financial aid, including FAFSA and scholarship applications.
