Job summary

Socket.dev seeks an Educational Specialist to support CPS students with career exposure, college access advising, and academic coaching. Reporting to the Vice President of Educational Services, this role also focuses on recruiting and retaining students at assigned Chicago Public High Schools and eligible college-enrolled youth.

The position operates under funding regulations (TRIO, Title IV, DFSS, DHS) and requires collaboration with counselors, colleges, and community partners to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, social work, or related field.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver educational and financial aid services.
• Flexibility to work after hours for outreach events and sessions.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advising, financial aid counseling, college placement, and career guidance.
• Establish partnerships with counselors and school staff to recruit and engage participants.
• Develop achievement plans and monitor progress toward goals.
• Coordinate parent information sessions, college trips, workshops, and outreach.
