Job summary

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking full-time College Advising Corps advisers to work in underserved high schools across North Carolina. The role supports students with admission, financial aid, and scholarship applications, and assists partner schools by developing strategic plans to engage students and families.

Advisers also work to foster a college-going culture through one-on-one guidance, group presentations, and coordinated school events.

Qualifications

• Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent).
• Bachelor’s degree required; or foreign degree equivalent with 3+ years of related experience (substitution accepted).
• Strong writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with admission, financial aid, and scholarship applications.
• Support guidance departments to develop and implement strategic plans to reach out to students and their parents; help with college, scholarship and financial aid applications.
• Increase college-going culture by working one-on-one with students, conducting group presentations, and coordinating whole-school events.
