Job summary

Red Hook Initiative (RHI) in Brooklyn seeks a College Access Specialist to build and sustain a college-going culture among high school students and younger participants. You will guide juniors and seniors through college applications, scholarships, and financial aid, and coach parents.

The role is full-time, hybrid on-site at our Red Hook office with afternoon hours and some evenings; you’ll partner with schools, admissions counselors, and community leaders to support post-secondary success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 2+ years in college access, readiness, or exposure preferred.
• Knowledge of college applications and financial aid required.
• Experience teaching or facilitating groups preferred.
• Computer skills; proficient with Google Suite and Salesforce.
• Resident of Red Hook preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement college access programming for 6-10th graders.
• Coach 40-50 juniors and seniors on college readiness.
• Lead college applications and advise on post-secondary options.
• Create workshops and trips to support higher education awareness.
• Coordinate FAFSA and financial aid workshops with families.
• Track progress and document needs in Salesforce and other systems.
