Job summary

The University of Georgia's Georgia College Advising Corps recruits service-minded recent graduates to support low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students in accessing higher education. GCAC college advisers serve in public high schools across Georgia, guiding students through college admissions, financial aid, and postsecondary planning.

Advisers help identify best-fit colleges, complete applications, explore scholarships, prepare for ACT/SAT, and track progress using the GCAC

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to engage with students and staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage data and deadlines.
  • Effective problem-solving, diplomacy, and ethical judgment.
  • Ability to collaborate with site liaison and program director.

Responsibilities

  • Work with high school seniors to guide admissions, financing, ACT/SAT, and applications.
  • Assist students with finding scholarship resources.
  • Complete GCAC reports and track data using the GRACE system.
  • Collaborate with the site liaison and Program Director.
  • Host college fairs and information sessions on college admission and aid.
  • Conduct outreach to rising seniors to build interest before the senior year.
