Job summary

CSU Fullerton Auxiliary Services Corporation (ASC) seeks an Academic Advisor for the Upward Bound program in Fullerton, CA.

Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Academic Advisor will identify and enroll eligible participants, assess student needs, provide academic advising, and design and implement required services to ensure participants graduate high school and progress onto postsecondary education with foundational skills. Occasional travel to target schools is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students and educational programs.
• Experience conducting workshops or group advising.
• Experience with academic support/enrichment programs, such as tutoring.
• Experience working with low-income students or first-generation college students.
• Ability to collaborate with campus, schools, and community partners.
• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and databases.
• Reliable transportation to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support at least two days a week and monthly Saturday Academies in Santa Ana.
• Help students progress onto higher education through advisement and financial aid assistance.
• Meet weekly with participants and provide academic and career advising.
• Maintain participants' individual educational plans and develop improvement strategies.
• Create and lead college access workshops.
• Support tutoring and Saturday sessions at school sites.
• Prepare weekly contact records and attendance; communicate progress to parents.
• Recruit new students and assess eligibility for the program.
• Provide data for reports and assist in project reporting.
• Travel to target schools and off-campus sites as needed.
• Distribute information about financial aid and postsecondary programs.
• Perform duties for project implementation.
• Other duties as assigned.
