The RFCUNY Research Foundation of the City University of New York invites applications for a part-time College Advisor position at the Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center. This in-person role supports TRIO EOC participants with college admissions, financial aid and career exploration in New York City.

The ideal candidate has advising experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to interact with diverse individuals both in person and by phone.

Formación

• Associates degree in Psychology, Education or related major with 2+ years of college access/advising experience.
• Experience in completing apprenticeship and post-secondary and financial aid applications (FAFSA, TAP).
• Extensive editing of college admissions essays.
• Strong presentation and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel within New York City and conduct off-site advising sessions.
• English proficiency required; Spanish or French fluency preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provide comprehensive assistance to TRIO EOC participants applying for post-secondary opportunities including apprenticeship, college or other post-secondary opportunities
• Support TRIO EOC participants with researching and completing the post-secondary and/or college admissions process including revision of essays, college selections, college major choices, and college enrollment
• Assist TRIO EOC participants in completing financial aid applications (FAFSA and TAP, Loans, etc.), and financial aid verification requirements and troubleshoot participants’ technical issues by contacting college administrators and seeking out appropriate information and guidance
• Provide workshops or presentations on career exploration, college admissions and financial aid topics
• Recruit TRIO EOC participants through various outreach activities, including open houses, community and college fairs, email marketing, and other advertising campaigns
• Maintain accurate records of applicant and participant progress and project activities
• Coordinate the participant intake process to ensure compliance with TRIO EOC project guidelines
• Ensure confidentiality of participant records in accordance with the City University and State University of New York policies and procedures
• Remain current on the latest trends in post-secondary education, college access and success
• Other duties as assigned
