Job Summary

The Collections Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health of RoadRunner by proactively managing accounts receivable and cultivating positive customer relationships. This position involves direct interaction with customers regarding outstanding balances, as well as close, cross‑functional collaboration with internal teams, including Account Management, Finance, and Operations. Additionally, the Collections Specialist will provide crucial support to the Account Management Team on various deliverables essential to the successful onboarding of new customers.

Primary Duties
  • Payment Collection: Proactively engage customers via phone and/or email to collect on past‑due invoices and ensure timely receipt of payments.
  • Account Monitoring: Monitor and analyze accounts receivable to accurately identify aging balances and prioritize collection efforts for maximum effectiveness.
  • Negotiation & Resolution: Professionally negotiate payment plans and calmly resolve customer billing disputes in an empathetic and helpful manner.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Accurately document all customer interactions, account details, and the results of collection efforts in the internal collections tracker.
  • Daily Reporting: Prepare and report daily on collection activity, accounts receivable status, and forecast updates to management.
  • Process Expertise: Develop an in‑depth understanding of internal systems and tools specific to the collection of aged receivables and the customer onboarding process.
  • Cross‑Functional Support: Collaborate effectively with sales, finance, and customer service teams to resolve issues and assist the Account Management Team with new customer onboarding deliverables.

Skills and Experience
  • Comfort with ambiguity, ability to act without having the whole picture using sound judgment and strong decision‑making skills.
  • 0–2 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a high‑volume customer service/finance role is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain professional and empathetic under pressure.
  • Highly organized and detail‑oriented with a proven ability to prioritize and multi‑task a high workload efficiently.
  • Passionate about customer service, eager to learn, and coachable with a strong desire to be a collaborative team player.
  • Comfortable learning and utilizing various internal collection and reporting systems.
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business preferred.

Pay Transparency

$21.64–$24.04/hour with 5% bonus.
