Join to apply for the Media Collections Specialist (Remote) role at The E.W. Scripps Company.

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Collections Specialist responsible for the day-to-day collection of open invoices, including locating and notifying customers of delinquent accounts and working to bring accounts current.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  1. Contact clients who are past due in payments (delinquent 60 days past invoice date).
  2. Document conversations with past due clients and record anticipated payment dates and follow-up actions.
  3. Propose potential account write-offs and prepare related documents for third-party collection agencies.
  4. Collaborate with the Credit department on open or potential credit issues.
  5. Research credit balances and open cash as needed.
  6. Resolve issues related to account status, invoice copies, and other requests.
  7. Handle inbound customer service calls and inquiries professionally.
  8. Address inquiries from vendors regarding accounts payable issues.
  9. Work on reconciliations for past due and pre-paid accounts and initiate corrective entries.
  10. Process monthly/daily credit card charges for media advertisers.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. 2-5 years of experience in call center, collections, customer service, or sales.
  3. Experience in the media industry preferred.
  4. Experience with Wide Orbit preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  1. Effective communication skills under pressure.
  2. Negotiation skills.
  3. Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  4. Proficiency in Excel.
  5. Ability to learn and use collection software.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Standard office environment.
