Champions First Credit Union in Tallahassee is seeking a Collections Specialist to help members get back on track while protecting the Credit Union from loss. You’ll manage delinquent accounts, negotiate work-outs, and collaborate with loan officers to resolve complex cases.

The role emphasizes ethical member counseling and compliant collections practices. Full-time schedule is Mon–Fri 8:30 AM–5:00 PM with strong benefits.

Qualificações

• High school diploma plus two years of similar experience.
• Knowledge of credit union collection policies and applicable collection laws and regulations.
• Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills for communicating with members about delinquent loans.
• Intermediate math skills, comfortable with percentages, decimals, and fractions.
• Comfortable negotiating and finding workable solutions with members.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, sit for long periods, and bend or stand as needed.
• Regular and dependable attendance.

Responsabilidades

• Delinquent Account Management – Manage delinquent consumer loans, mortgages, business loans, credit cards, and ensure notices go out on time.
• Smart Prioritizing – Focus on high-balance accounts first while keeping smaller accounts moving to reduce overall delinquency.
• Member Work-Outs – Collaborate with members, the Collections team, and loan officers on work-outs.
• Records & Corrections – Maintain clear notes, keep files up to date, and correct loan payments when errors occur.
• Compliance – Adhere to FDCPA, policy, and procedures in all collection activities.
• Skip Tracing & Recommendations – Locate hard-to-reach members and recommend repossession or legal actions.
• Claims & Charge-Offs – File claims, coordinate with Accounting and Card Services.
• Counseling & Teamwork – Provide financial counseling and support team education.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a member of our Collections team, you’ll help members get back on track while protecting the Credit Union from loss. Your role will include:

• Delinquent Account Management – Work delinquent consumer loans, mortgages, business loans, credit cards, and negative share and share draft accounts, and make sure collection notices go out on time.
• Smart Prioritizing – Work high-balance accounts first each day while keeping smaller accounts moving to bring overall delinquency down.
• Member Work-Outs – Partner with members, the Collections team, and loan officers on work-outs that serve both the member and the Credit Union, and negotiate on the Credit Union’s behalf.
• Records & Corrections – Keep clear, accurate notes in the collections system, keep every collection file up to date, and calculate and correct loan payments when errors occur.
• Compliance – Follow the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, credit union policy, and procedure in every collection practice.
• Skip Tracing & Recommendations – Locate hard-to-reach members through skip tracing and recommend accounts for repossession or legal action.
• Claims & Charge-Offs – File CUNA claims on members’ behalf, work with Accounting on claim questions, and work with Card Services on required monthly credit card charge-offs.
• Counseling & Teamwork – Offer financial counseling to members who need it, work daily with the Collections Director on problem accounts, and help educate staff to prevent negative situations.

• High school diploma plus two years of similar experience, preferably in a financial institution
• Knowledge of credit union collection policies and procedures, and of applicable collection laws and regulations

• Ability to lift full boxes of work up to 25 pounds, sit for long periods, and bend, stoop, or stand as needed
