Job summary

Champions First Credit Union in Tallahassee is seeking an Accounting Representative I to help maintain accurate, balanced, and compliant financial operations. You will handle daily exception processing, reconciliations, accounts payable, and general ledger support while assisting with monthly reporting and regulatory requirements.

• Experience with reconciliations, accounts payable, general ledger, or ACH/share draft processing strongly preferred.
• Intermediate math skills with percentages, decimals, and fractions.
• Strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines.
• Regular and dependable attendance; this is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Daily Exception Processing – review exception reports, research discrepancies, and process returns accurately and on time.
• Reconciliations – reconcile official checks, accounts payable, and general ledger accounts, research variances.
• Accounts Payable – manage vendor onboarding, W-9 collection, and 1099 filing compliance.
• General Ledger Support – post ledger entries and monthly mortgage and tax postings.
• Reporting & Compliance – prepare quarterly Call Reports and monthly negative share/curtailing reports.
• Member & Front-Line Support – process member service forms and support front-line staff with questions.
• Confidentiality & Controls – maintain data confidentiality and follow internal controls and audits.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a member of our Accounting team, you’ll help keep the Credit Union’s financial operations accurate, balanced, and compliant. Your role will include:

• Daily Exception Processing – Review Share Draft and ACH exception reports, research discrepancies, and process returns accurately and on time.
• Reconciliations – Reconcile official checks, accounts payable, and assigned general ledger accounts, researching variances and escalating unresolved items.
• Accounts Payable – Manage vendor onboarding, W-9 collection, and annual 1099 filing compliance.
• General Ledger Support – Post general ledger entries, corporate bank transactions, and monthly mortgage and tax postings.
• Reporting & Compliance – Prepare quarterly Call Report documents and monthly Negative Share and Courtesy Pay reports.
• Member & Front-Line Support – Process member service forms and support front-line staff with member questions.
• Confidentiality & Controls – Maintain strict confidentiality of financial data and follow internal controls, audit standards, and regulatory requirements.

Position Requirements

What You Bring to the Table

You’re detail-driven, dependable, and comfortable working with numbers all day.

• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in accounting, finance, or business preferred
• Three or more years of related accounting, bookkeeping, banking, or credit union experience preferred
• Experience with reconciliations, accounts payable, general ledger, or ACH/share draft processing strongly preferred
• Intermediate math skills, comfortable working with percentages, decimals, and fractions
• Strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, and attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and consistently meet established deadlines
• Regular & dependable attendance. This is a full-time position.

Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time

Salary Range (commensurate with experience) $23.00-$26.00/ hour
