SFMOMA in San Francisco seeks a Collections Manager to lead the Collections Care and Access Team and oversee storage, housing, and movement of the museum’s modern and contemporary art across two facilities.

You will audit inventories, implement policies, coordinate the weekly shuttle, and collaborate with Conservation, Registration, and Facilities to maintain climate control, security, and accessible storage for the collection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, Art Conservation, Art History, or related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in museum registration and/or collections management.
• Minimum of three years of direct supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of registration methods and collections care principles in modern and contemporary art museums.
• Proficiency with collections management systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Collections Care and Access Team across Museum and Collections Center.
• Plan and manage art storage spaces and movement between locations.
• Ensure climate, pest management, and housing standards for storage.
• Audit inventories and maintain collection documentation.
• Coordinate shuttle logistics between locations.
• Develop policies with Director and ensure compliance.
