The Manager, Collections Analytics & Performance is responsible for driving a data-informed approach to revenue recovery across the collections function. This role blends analytical expertise with operational oversight — partnering closely with the collections team to establish productivity standards, provide coaching, and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable. By translating collections data into actionable insights, this manager identifies trends, uncovers root causes of denials and payment delays, and develops strategies that measurably improve collections performance. The ideal candidate bridges the gap between collections execution and strategic decision-making, serving as a key resource for both frontline staff and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Collections Operations
- Partner with the collections team to establish productivity standards, follow-up timelines, and best practices that drive consistent, timely AR resolution.
- Provide coaching and guidance to collections staff on workflows, payer-specific requirements, and account prioritization strategies.
- Monitor team adherence to follow-up protocols and **escalate gaps or bottlenecks to appropriate leadership.**
- Ensure collections processes align with payer contracts, regulatory requirements, and internal billing policies.
- Collaborate with collections leadership on denial management strategies and escalated account resolution.
Analytics & Performance Improvement
- Analyze collections data to identify trends in denials, aging AR, payer behavior, and underpayments.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools that provide visibility into key performance indicators (KPIs) such as collection rate, days in AR, denial rate, and clean claim rate.
- Identify root causes of collections failures and partner with billing, coding, and clinical operations teams to implement corrective action.
- Conduct payer-level analysis to benchmark performance and surface opportunities for process improvement or contract renegotiation.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear, actionable format.
Strategy & Process Development
- Design and refine collections workflows, prioritization strategies, and escalation protocols based on data-driven insights.
- Lead initiatives to improve first-pass resolution rates and reduce avoidable write-offs.
- Evaluate technology tools and system enhancements that support collections efficiency and data visibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, with a focus on collections, AR management, or denial management with 2+ years of Infusion billing and collections experience
- 2+ years of management and performance coaching experience.
- Proficiency in analyzing data using Excel, reporting platforms or practice management/billing systems.
- Strong understanding of payer billing requirements, EOBs, remittance processing, and denial codes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specialty pharmacy or infusion billing environments.
- Familiarity with Caretend, Weinfuse, and Waystar.
- CRCR or similar revenue cycle certification.
